- About Us
CTZN is an architecture practice centered around creativity as a catalyst for building community. We understand that every aspect of a project revolves around the people involved: from the vision, creativity, and craft, to the communities that bring spaces to life. That’s why we put people at the heart of everything we do.
We know that design decisions can make a real impact on how people live and connect with one another. Because of this, our design process starts with listening and empathizing. We seek to understand the people behind the project, as well as the people who will be impacted and connected by it.
All our designs incorporate our core values to support inclusive communities, advocate with integrity, and remain playfully creative. Simultaneously, we’re always exploring various mediums and collaborations, celebrating all things delightful and quirky.
Why CTZN
Our process is people-oriented and prioritizes creativity as a mechanism to express identity.
Our client’s vision and needs are our top priority. To put this into action, we make sure to provide dedicated customer service and clear communication throughout the design process - whether it’s an in-depth project briefing or a chat over coffee, we’re always here to listen and learn from you.
We’re fascinated by the way design impacts how a space feels. Different choices can make a space feel social, active, and high-energy, or quiet, contemplative, and restorative. These choices influence the quality of life enjoyed by those who inhabit a space, impacting everything from health and focus to employee retention and customer satisfaction. That’s why we work to implement choices that put the unique needs of people first.
CTZN begins with our core team that combines design, building science, and project management skills. We then collaborate with other design, engineering, and construction professionals – We truly believe in celebrating the immense value that every discipline brings to the project. We’ll be with you every step of the way as your advocate, making sure the journey is engaging and the result is one we can all be proud of.
In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge that we live, work and design on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.
